One of the first things you will do when you go in Dr. Kurtz office is to fill out a questionaire. This questionaire is so your chiropractor will be better informed of your needs and situation. Dr. Kurtz will use the information to decide which area you need the most help in. Then you are asked to watch a video that takes about 5 minutes to watch. This lets you know what chiropractic care is all about.
They will then perform the physical examination and x-rays providing that they are needed. If the x-rays are needed the results will be discussed with you during the consultation. During the physical examination they will check your posture and do an analysis on your spine and a motion evaluation to see how far you can reach over and down.
Your chiropractor has spent over 300 hours studying x-rays before they are even allowed to graduate from college. That fact alone makes me feel comfortable that my x-rays will be analyzed and read correctly. Chiropractors know every part of your spinal column, which vertebrae is the problem and which area it effects. One of the most important decision in choosing a chiropractor is to have confidence in him or her.
CONSULTATION AND TREATMENT
After Dr. Kurtz has gone over the x-rays and evaluated the examination it is now time for him to decide if you will benefit from chiropractic care. Once the decision has been made that chiropractic care will indeed benefit you, he will discuss the cost and approximately how many visits it may take for you to get well. It depends on the area and the severity of the region that is hurt. He will also discuss the type of treatment you should receive.
Some of those decisions will be if you need heat for pain or ice for swelling. Which therapy bed would you benefit most from? Will it be the water bed or the roller bed? I never could decide which bed I liked better. I do know that you capture a little bit of Heaven on the water bed. There is just enough motion to make you relax and get lost in your thoughts. On the other hand the roller bed has just enough pressure to make you forget about your pain. After your therapy is done you are ready for your next and final treatment.
THE ADJUSTMENT
So finally here you are the next person in line to get adjusted. There are those thoughts again. Don't worry it will not hurt. The first time may feel a little strange because you have to get comfortable with the procedure. It is just a careful manipulation of that area to try to ease the pressure and pain.
